If it wasn’t for the Rolex watch company there may not be certain things like the Sydney to Hobart Yacht race, the Daytona 24 hour race and the Kentucky Derby because without Rolex and the sponsorship money it pours into these events they could almost not run those races. Those few races are no the only things that Rolex sponsors. They also donate a lot of money to charities and other worthwhile causes. Anything that Rolex donates its time and money to usually ends up being very successful.
Wherever the rich and famous mingle it is likely that Rolex is nearby. There was an Italian advertisement back in the 1970s that featured Paul Newman wearing a Rolex. Since then many famous people have been spotted wearing a Rolex for instance, Jennifer Aniston, Matt Damon, Roger Federer (with his latest big win in tennis he can definitely afford a Rolex!), Sharon Stone, Robert De Niro photographed wearing a Paul Newman Vintage Daytona, Harrison Ford seen wearing a stainless Datejust, Sophie Marceau, Izabel Goulart, Robert Redford and the lovely Sharon Stone and that’s only a few.
Occasionally you may see the rich and famous wearing a replica such as the replica Rolex Yacht-Master watches and it’s extremely hard to tell the difference unless you are a Rolex expert. The good replicas resemble the real Rolex watches so well that it really is very hard to spot the difference. You would need a good five minutes study time and a magnifying glass.
One last interesting Rolex tidbit is that Chuck Yeager, the man who was the first to break the sound barrier was wearing a Rolex when he did so. Here’s a tough challenge for anyone that wants to try. Do you have any idea what style of Rolex Chuck Yeager was wearing when he broke the sound barrier?
